The ground-breaking shows Fusion, and Fairy Tales produced by Step Change Studios in partnership with Sadler's Wells were supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

 

 

 

Sport England provided National Lottery Funding to support people with sight loss to take part in our dance programme, in partnership with London Vision. We remain committed to Sport England's vision that everyone is able to take part in sport or activity, regardless of age, background or ability.

 

 

 

 

Step Change Studios won the inaugural One Dance UK Award for Innovation. The award recognises the most groundbreaking and cutting-edge approach to dance. Founder Rashmi Becker also received the One Dance UK Mentoring Programme Bursary in partnership with Dancers' Career Development.

 

 

 

 

The Mayor of London is supported an innovative initiative for adults with a visual impairment. The programme included volunteering, training and development, and a central focus on supporting people's physical and mental wellbeing. 

 

 

 

 

Step Change Studios Founder Rashmi Becker holds professional membership of People Dancing, the national organisation for community and participatory dance. The organisation is committed to driving forward inclusion and excellence through professional development. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step Change Studios' Founder Rashmi Becker received the Points of Light award in 2019 from the UK Prime Minister for her services to making dance accessible. 

 

 

 

 

Rashmi Becker has been selected as a finalist and Highly Commended in the Asian Women of Achievement Awards, 2020. The Awards recognise Asian women in the UK who are making a valuable and important contribution to British life. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step Change Studios was the proud winner of the Health and Wellbeing Award in association with BBC Radio London at the London Sport Awards. The Awards recognise the 'best of the best' of grassroots sport and physical activity.

 

 

 

Step Change Studios received a grant by the Dance Enterprise Ideas Fund - an East London Dance Initiative with Foundation for FutureLondon, English National Ballet, Sadler’s Wells, Dancer’s Career Development, Hackney Council & Discover Young Hackney, Redbridge Drama Centre, Theatre Royal Stratford East, and supported by One Dance UK, Rich Mix, Studio Wayne McGregor and University of East London. This grant supported our initial development.

 

 

We hold the Active Westminster Mark which is awarded to organisations sports and leisure organisations which meet quality standards set by the Active Westminster Partnership, City of Westminster. Step Change Studios is also a winner of the Active Westminster Inclusion Award.

 

 

 

 

 

 

We are proud to be an Associate Member of Activity Alliance. Building on our commitment to  inclusive dance, we work with Activity Alliance to enable more disabled people to be active for life. 

 

 

 

 

 

Breaking Ballroom made the official selection of the Accessible Film Festival, Turkey where the film was screened in the cities of Istanbul, Ankara, and Eskisehir. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Breaking Ballroom was selected as a finalist in the Courage Film Festival in Berlin. The festival highlights filmmakers who use their work to make a stand and to fight for what they believe is right. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Breaking Ballroom, a short film about Rashmi Becker and her efforts to create opportunities for more people to dance was chosen as part of the official selection for the Manhattan Film Festival.
